The Ultimate Diet Plan!

Let’s dive into the Plate Diet, which could be the ultimate diet plan.

What ‘cha Eatin’?

Although the idea of balancing your diet may seem like a daunting task, it’s not impossible once you have some basic guidelines. Although there is no one diet that works for everyone, there are some basics things on which nutritionists agree that benefit everyone.

Above is a food chart based on the recent findings of the Canadian Health Council. This is meant to replace the Food Pyramid so many of us grew up with. As you can see there is an emphasis on vegetables and fruit, whole grains, and good protein; all in balance. No one group is more important than another. They work together to promote optimum health.

Here are some things to keep in mind:

  • Limit processed foods in favor of whole fresh foods.
  • It is important to eat a balance of vegetables, grains, and protein.
  • Good protein can be found in plant (legumes, grains) and animal (eggs, beef, fish) sources.
  • Good fats are essential. They are in animal products (butter, cold water fish) and plants (avocadoes, olive oil).
  • Cultures with a lower incidence of serious illness and life expectancy of over 100 have one thing in common; at least 60% of their diet consists of fruits and vegetables and they eat little to no processed foods.
